This breakaway post adapter provides the hardware needed to join a U-channel top post to a shorter ground-level anchor post, creating a two-piece breakaway sign post system. When struck by a vehicle, the connection is designed to separate at the splice point, allowing the upper post to break free from the base.
The adapter uses a nested lap splice connection secured with two special bolts and a bar spacer. No welding or specialized tools are required, installation is done in the field with basic hand tools and typically takes just a few minutes.
Kit includes: Two breakaway bolts, washers, nuts and one spacer bar.

Installation overview: Drive the short anchor post into the ground, leaving about 6 - 8 inches exposed above grade. Nest the upper sign post over the anchor post, align the bolt holes, and secure with the included hardware.
Common applications: Roadside sign installations, traffic sign posts, street name signs, parking signs, and other ground-mounted signage where a breakaway post system is required or preferred for safety compliance.
